Doing it Right
Take a strip of the Marley hair and at the base of your hair, you take it like this and you begin to wind it around your hair. I don’t know if you ladies can really see what I’m doing.
Okay, I had to bring the camera closer for you because I really want you guys to see what I’m doing.
So, this is the twist. Remember, I moisturized it. Now, I’m taking one of the strands of the Marley hair from the Marley braid hair, right? I am leaving a little piece of there on there so, I can grip it real good.
And, as close to the root, the base of the twist as possible, I begin to wrap the Marley hair around my Marley twists. Are you all seeing what’s going on? So, you see what’s going on right here?
You see this piece? Now, what you want to do is leave it on there like this. Hold on to it and you want to grab another piece of Marley hair. Take the tip of it. Do what you did at the base and begin twisting it the same way that you’ve been twisting your hair… counterclockwise, maybe. I don’t know. You see?
Make sure it’s secure now. You don’t want it coming off. What you can do is actually push it up so, it has a nice grip and looks like it continues very nicely. Once you get about an inch left of the twist that you need to wrap, take that piece and just separate it a little bit and blend it in with the Marley hair.
Now, you’re going to take it and loop it around and begin to take that one-inch piece and the Marley hair and twist it, wrap it actually around the base of the twist again.
So, what I’m doing, do you see how seamless that looks? Like, it didn’t end with a funky string at the end because that’s not how real locks look. So, you want to twist, you want to wrap it.
At the ends here, I like to separate them because it helps the hair to lock with the other wrapped hair which is important because you don’t want it unraveling on you.
You take your lighter and you begin to light the part that is, that you just ended it with.
Now, I’m doing this because the heat melts the hair and causes it to stick.
Okay, ladies, there it goes. It’s pretty secure. It feels fine to me.
So, this is it. I’m going to be doing a couple of hairstyles with it. It’s going to look better as days go by. In fact, over one day, I noticed it looks better because it starts to have a little bit more flavor. I’m going to tell you how I upkeep it but, if you do have any questions on the method I’m using, please do put it in the box below and I’ll share that with you.
Please, check out cassandrebeccai.com. I always have some good tips there. I think you’re really going to enjoy plus I have a free e-book there — 5 Things Your Mama Didn’t Tell You About Your Hair. Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate you. I really do.

you did a great job! BC you use so many packs is the hair heavy? How do you plan on taking it down?
I might have to take try that.
Hi Cass, love the Locs. I want to try this, but mu ends around my hair line are very fine. How can I achieve this style without putting stress on them. When I wear extension braids. I don’t put them along my hair line. I braid my natural hair down on each side. It looks as if I have a braided head band. I know this technique will not work with this Loc style.
How long will you wear this?
Your awesome!!! Can’t wait to see you this summer !!
I love this!!!! This is how I was doing my Marley twists!
How are you going to take them out?
i am liking the vid before i watch cuz i know im gonna LUV IT!!!
Beautiful. I know the style is well worth it. But it will def take a lot of time to put them in and take them out. I love them though!
Very pretty! But isnt The end of your hair in the part you burned? Or did i miss something? Lol
O_O my face the whole time. What a lovely style! I hope one day I’m brave enough to try it! I’m doing marley twists this week!
I love your hair I want you to make a video on how to take it down.
And I appreciate you making/sharing this vid. This style is amazing! I’ve always wanted locs but didn’t want to loc my real hair right now. Awesome alternative! Thanks
hey hon. maybe 8 weeks.
xo !!! thanks Vonette!
hey sweets! Maybe cut the ends and carefully unravel. We will see!
you’re too cute! thanks so much!
ahh the things we do for beauty!
haha! I edited out a whole rant about not being dumb and keeping that fire to your hair for over a few seconds. you can for sure avoid you hair being burned by not doing this style at all, but otherwise I suggest being uber careful! I haven’t had that happen to me though because I’ve been so careful.
thanks! I want me to make a video of how I take them down too
haha! yeah girl. This is a style for the adventurous and patient!
no problem hon. Enjoy!
That’s exactly how I removed mine! You just have to cut above where you burned to seal or “slice it open” until you get to the twist layer. Great video! Question: How did you secure the roots where you attached the hair to the twist, does it just stay like that?
Oh I forgot to ask about washing your marley twists. What method did you use? Thanks again
For making these videos you are just stunning and inspirational, I’m so over spending money (hundreds of dollars) at braiding shops for them to put far to much tension on my roots!
Love this. SO cute, am defo trying this soon!
very cute looks heavy but I love them. my hair is too thin for this but. I love it
I love the style! Geez, you’re gorgeous!
These look lovely! Is it better to make a twist or braid first?
Beautiful twists! I notice that your nails are long, do you take any hair/nail growth vitamins?
You Look Gorgeous!
I love your hair I commend you for all the time and patience you put into sharing your regimen and styles with us!
love lovee!!!
Cassie thank you for sharing! I must try this!! absolutely gorgeous
You’re welcome sweetie! I know you will make it look even more so gorgeous!
Love the look and Love you! yaaaas sista weeeeerrrrk *pointer finger making “s” motions in the air*
So True. We will spend the whole weekend doing our hair from sun up to sun down
But it’s so worth it. Have a great weekend.
how long can you keep this? like 2 months? and if its that long will my hair be super tangled? thats what i’m nervous about
are the locs light weight like marley twist?
hi- no they’re not.
hey question…How do you keep the moisture in or put it back after you was it.
hey girl! Washing your hair while in loc extensions is about washing your scalp as opposed to trying to find a way to wash the hair itself (because your hair is locked up underneath two layers of synthetic hair). Chances are you will gain moisture as oppose to lose it so there is no need to “put moisture back”.
nice!
Hi!!! I really admire you! I’s like to know: how do you remove these locks?
I love this, can’t wait to try. How would you suggest curling these?
Do you haveto burn the end?
I’m going to try this. U have a sweet spirit. Keep doing ur thing girlie.
Wow! I’ve never seen this method before! Definitely thinking about trying it – but kinda chicken cause of how long it takes to do. Ok – a coupla questions – How moisturized does your hair stay under there? When you say you have a “marley twist” – does that mean that you have marley hair twisted into your twisted hair as well? I’m excited about this style cause it looks as if one cud have the best of both worlds – locs and loose hair. Definitely fav’ing the vid and thanx for sharing!!!
Is this your first time trying this style?
Hi! to answer your questions- 1) we’ll find out soon enough, but I mist my hair with water/glycerin mix when I remember 2) yes. search “marley twists” on my channel so you can see a video of what I’m talking about.
Nellie you should try it without burning, but that doesn’t stay for me.
hey hon!! just subbed great video!! im thinking about trying this style but I dnt know if i have the patience! lol
Hey another question I just made an appointment with my friend to do this for me on friday! Exactly how many packs of marley hair did you use to twist it and then how many packs to do the wrapping? she has been watching your video over and over. The twist before the wrapping should she do the marley twist method or just regular twist or does it not matter? THANKS!!
hey sweetie- the answers to your questions are in part 1. I also link to the marley twist method I used in that video,
wow fantastic idea! I have always admired d. locks, but not have to keep my hair in that style forever. thanks. I’M A new subbie!
This is absolutely awesome .. Plan to make this my next mission.. How come burning the end doesn’t burn your hair? And how long can you wear these? also how do you remove them?
#newsubbie just wanted to say i #loveyouuu and we have the same name ayeeeee
quick question so i barely have hair on my head so would recommend be getting box braids or box twist and just doing what you did here on top of it? hope that make sense and how would you take it out without damaging your hair?
love the style. Lol, I’m 4 months into my loc journey, I love love love my locs
yeah… her hair is def inside that part… unless that is marley hair as well
You didn’t burn your hair by sealing the locs? And I have a suggestion for those who dont wanna waste time braiding a long braid and then wrapping it . Just braid sum bulk hair into ur hair and have it the amount?size u want ur locks to be so u dont have to braid all the way down. Just braid as far as you like and then wrap the marley hair around the braid going down over the bulk hair, saves ALOT of time !
can you curl these?? Like wrap them around a perm rod and dip them in boiling water??
that hasn’t worked for me, but you can surely try!
Does burning the ends mess with your natural hail IN the braid?
@Mira JJ I’m sure it can mess with your natural hair if you put the fire to the hair for longer than 2 seconds.
I’m sorry I think I missed something. If you’re burning your ends like that does this mean the twists you have on before the faux locks are extensions?
@Judith Louis-Jacques yes, they are.
Hey my marley twist were super heavy and I was wondering are these heavy on your head? I play college basketball and when I did my twist I used three strands per twist. They were super cute but heavy and I ended up using 9 packs.
Hey Raven! Mine were not that heavy. I think my video will tell you that I used half as many packs as you did. I’m sure more hair-more weight. Hope you can fix that so it doesn’t weigh on your roots.
Thanks for the info. What if I wanna go a bit longer? How do I create the added length? Could you also give instructions on how to securely take them out when it’s time to? This was such a helpful video. I really want to try this now!
No problem! Simply put in longer base extensions. A stylist can do that for you if you don’t know how. Yes, I will share my take down.
YUP THATS HOW I DO MINE
BEAUTIFUL
How.long did they last?
You are too beautiful. Do u know how long the hair was on u? It looks like 20inches.
@Mira JJ If u use the lighter on the hair, make sure u make the twists longer than ur natural hair..only light the extensions. A stylist lit my natural hair with synthetic hair and she had to cut off my hair like four inches above the Burned ends.
This. Defines. Dope.
how do you take it down if you don’t want it anymore ?
Are they heavy
I’ve finished my locs! I had my twists in for about 5 weeks and have been wanting to try these for a while. They look me 12hrs to do (I managed to watch an entire season of Breaking Bad). My locs are bit fuller. I don’t know if I’ll be able to style them as much as I want to. Right now, my scalp is too tender to try but I like the way they look.
They’re a tad heavier than my Marley twists but hopefully I get used to that.
Thank you for this tutorial!
I would like to do this to head starts locking my real hair since it wont lock due to perm.. do you suggest to keep it in for that long? I guess it would be kept in for life , if i’m using it to continually lock my real hair after new growth comes
My mom wants locs but is afraid of the commitment that comes along with it… I think I’m going to try this one her… This was great thanks!!!
how many locks did you do?
Hey are there other techniques to do lock extentions
How do you take it out? I want to do this since ill be starting college but I want to be able to wash my hair after a while since my hair is so soft
Same here for my hair. I have to try this.
Excellent job
Hello. Did u dip the locs in hot water or did u just leave it as is?
This is genius! Definitely gonna try this one day…but first marley twists it is for me
so just to make sure you started with a marley twist already in your hair right? the twist was not your real hair..it was already twisted with marley hair and then u wrapped it with more marley hair?
great video! just subscribed!! do you know some different brands or a
actual brand of loc extensions?
Don’t You burn part of your real hair with the lighter? Just asking!
Complicated process
Hi! I’d like to know if this artificial hair is preatty much heavy
